Moving the crocodile
The crocodile case is now empty and dismantled into its parts (base, glass and frames), allowing furniture restoration specialist Ray Gurney to work on the back side of the case (the one that used to be against the wall). Conservation staff can also assess the previously inaccessible back side of the crocodile for treatment and cleaning.
In the next week or so, Ray can begin preparatory work on the last side of the caseand conservator Sheldon Teare will finish his work on the croc. It will all be reassembled for final finishing in the Surviving Australia Gallery.
