Sorry, this event has ended! Explore our Unsettled program series for more immersive First Nations culture and histories events.

The workshop takes place on the following Saturdays and Sundays, with morning and afternoon sessions running each day.

12 June, 13 June
Morning session: 10.30am - 1pm
Afternoon session: 2pm - 4.30pm

Barrawimambinya is a Wiradyuri word associated with permission to act on Country.

Coming into Country explores the processes and protocols that are used in Aboriginal communities traditionally to move onto another’s Country.

This immersive workshop explores how the colonisation process and Australian culture would have been a very different process if people came into the many different sovereign Nations the right way.

While this is not a welcome to Country, the program does explain the difference between a welcome and acknowledgement for education purposes.

First Nations cultural practitioners Milan Dhiiyaan facilitate this program, drawing on ancient knowledge and relating this knowledge to our modern context.

Each workshop concludes with a yarning circle to explore these concepts and transform your thinking about modern cultural possibilities.
