We caught up with Dr Sandy Ingleby, manager of the mammals collection after she had collected the sperm whale jaw from Sydney's Newport Beach.

A few weeks ago a Sperm Whale carcass washed up on the rocks of Sydney’s Newport Beach. Recently Dr Sandy Ingleby of the Australian Museum mammalogy collection discussed what this meant for the museum.

Following out first chat, Dr Ingleby went out and collected the specimen to start the process of integrating the jaw into the museums collection. Find out what she had to say.
