58 outstanding individuals and teams have been announced finalists in the 2026 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes, featuring remarkable scientific endeavour and achievement from across the country.
About the Eureka Prizes
The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes are the country’s most comprehensive national science awards, honouring excellence across the areas of research & innovation, leadership, science engagement, and school science.
Presented annually in partnership with some of the nation's leading scientific institutions, government organisations, universities and corporations, the Eureka Prizes raise the profile of science and science engagement in the community by celebrating outstanding achievement.
Entries open Monday 9 February
Entries close 7pm AEST Thursday 16 April
Finalists announced Wednesday 29 July
Winners announced at Award Ceremony Thursday 3 September
The AM Eureka Prizes winners will be announced on Thursday 3 September, at a ceremony held at Sydney Town Hall. A livestream of the awards will also be available online.
Sponsored by the Australian Museum, the School Science Eureka Prize encourages students to explore a scientific concept, discovery or invention, or test their own scientific hypothesis in a short film. Students can work individually or in teams of up to six people, and there is a prize pool of $10,000 to be shared between the winners and their schools.
