Archie Rose, an independent distillery based in Sydney, has been announced as the new spirits partner for the Australian Museum.

Wednesday, 26 October 2016, Sydney: Australia’s first museum, the Australian Museum (AM) has announced a new partnership with Sydney’s first independent distillery, Archie Rose Distilling Co.

The partnership has been launched over the course of two weeks of celebrations, including the closing of the historic Long Gallery for restoration, the launch of the AM’s new rooftop dining venue – No. 1 William, and the upcoming Halloween after-hours event for 18-35s – Jurassic Lounge.

“Archie Rose is an exciting emerging brand in the tradition of early distilleries in Sydney,” Kim McKay AO, Director and CEO of the Australian Museum, said.

“In 2017 the AM will celebrate its 190th anniversary, and we are pleased to have Archie Rose on-board as our spirits partner for this milestone year,” she said.

Archie Rose’s founder Will Edwards said the AM was the perfect organisation to partner with given his fond memories of visiting as a boy.

“The Australian Museum was part of my childhood – I remember attending as a boy with my family, and also as a student at the school next door, so it’s been a significant part of my experience of growing up in Sydney,” Edwards said.

“To work with such an incredible institution is an absolute honour and despite being quite a bit older than us, I feel the AM shares Archie Rose’s passion for innovation while respecting heritage and tradition, and I look forward to collaborating on interesting projects and events in the future,” he said.

Archie Rose Distilling Co. will showcase its spirits at a bespoke Martini Bar at the AM’s Jurassic Lounge Halloween event this Saturday 29 October.

About Archie Rose Distilling Co.

Archie Rose Distilling Co. is a custom-designed boutique distillery and bar in Rosebery. Established in 2014, it is dedicated to honouring Sydney’s rich spirit-making past and shaping its future. Archie Rose distils hand-crafted spirits on site, including gin, vodka and whisky and its distillery has been custom designed to give people a unique behind-the-scenes look at the distilling process from grain to glass.

The Archie Rose Bar is located next door to its distillery and has been created as a place where people gather to savour its products in spirit flights and cocktails along with other exceptional products from around the world. Founded by Sydney-sider Will Edwards, the inspiration for Archie Rose came from the Tasmanian distilling industry and the urban distilleries of New York and London.
