Terms and Conditions for the Australian Museum Bloodsuckers: Nature’s Vampires exhibition competition

1) Entry Period
The trade promotion commences on 2 April 2026 at 10am and closes at 5pm on 11 October 2026 ("Entry Period"). No entries will be accepted after this time.
2) Prize and Prize Value
There is one prize to be won. The prize to be awarded is a voucher to the Australian Museum Shop valued at AUD $500. The prize winner will be the entrant whose guess is closest to the actual number of Common Marsupial Ticks displayed in the jar. If more than one entry is equally closest to the correct number, the winner will be determined by a random draw from those entries.

3) Prize Validity and Booking Dates
The prize is valid for 3 years from the date of the Prize Draw.
4) Prize Terms and Conditions
The Prize is not refundable, transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
The Prize is redeemable instore and online at https://shop.australian.museum/.
5) Promoter
The promotion is conducted by the Australian Museum Trust with its principal place of business at 1 William St, Sydney 2000. This promotion is conducted under permit number TP/02169.
6) Eligible Participants
To enter, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Any directors, employees and contractors who work or have worked in the last 12 months for the Australian Museum Trust, and anyone involved in determining the prize winner, are not eligible to enter. Participants are not permitted to enter more than once. Any duplicate entries will be deleted. The Winner will be required to certify their eligibility in accordance with these terms and conditions in order to receive the prize.
7) Prize Winner Determination and Notification
The prize winner will be the entrant whose guess is closest to the actual number of Common Marsupial Ticks displayed in the jar. If more than one entry is equally closest to the correct number, the winner will be determined by a random draw from those entries. The winning entry will be determined on 13 October 2026 at the Promoter’s offices from all correct and completed entries. Winners will be notified via phone and email within 2 days of the draw. The name of the winner will be published on Promoters Website – australian.museum/bloodsuckerscomp once the winner has been notified.
8) Costs Associated with Claiming Prizes
Any costs associated with claiming a prize, such as travel expenses or taxes, are the responsibility of the winner.
9) Dispute Resolution
In the event of any disputes concerning the conduct of the gaming activity or claiming a prize, the decision of the promoter is final. Disputes can be addressed in writing to feedback@australian.museum within 14 days of the draw.
10) Marketing Consent
If you wish to receive marketing communications and special offers from the Australian Museum, you can provide consent when you enter this promotion. By providing consent, you consent to receive email communications from the Australian Museum. You can opt-out of email communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link in the communications. Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Australian Museum’s privacy statement which can be viewed at www.australian.museum/privacy.
11) Publication Consent
By accepting a prize, winners consent to the Australian Museum publishing their name and image in any media for promotional purposes without additional compensation.
12) Prize Claim Period
Winners must claim their prize within 30 days from the date of notification. If a prize is not claimed within this period, the promoter reserves the right to redraw the prize.
13) Redetermination of Prize Winners
If a prize winner is deemed ineligible or fails to claim their prize within the specified period, a redetermination of the prize winner will occur. The new winner will be notified in the same manner as the original draw.
14) Disclaimer of liability
The Australian Museum is not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury suffered or incurred by any participant in connection with the promotion or the prize, including but not limited to:
(i) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the promoter's control).
(ii) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged, or misdirected due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the promoter.
(iii) any loss or damage suffered or incurred by the Winner or the Winner’s travel companion arising out of the prize.
(iv) any tax liability incurred by a winner or participant.
