200 Years
In 2027, the Australian Museum turns 200. Two centuries of science, collections and cultures, and we're just getting started. Come and be part of the biggest year in our history.
In 2027, the Australian Museum marks its 200-year milestone – and steps boldly into its third century.
For 200 years, it has been a place where ancient fossils, rare specimens, remarkable objects and living cultures come together to tell stories that span millions of years. A place that reminds us how small we are, how much more there is to understand, and how vast and wondrous our world can be.
As Australia’s first museum, we’ve provided a platform where groundbreaking scientific research, globally significant collections, and the voices and knowledge of First Nations Communities have shaped how Australians understand the world around them. And after 200 years, that purpose has never felt more urgent.
