Introduction
The Common Pyrgomorph belongs to the family Pyrgomorphidae, which includes the smallest grasshoppers in Australia and some of the largest.
Identification
When threatened, many species in this group display brightly coloured wings (usually red or orange) as a defence.
Habitat
The Common Pyrgomorph lives in urban areas and heath. It is often found among the coastal shrub, Westringia fructicosa.
Distribution
The Common Pyrgomorph is found in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
