'Water squirting' Common Lionfish
This video is quite amazing; It shows an unusual feeding strategy employed by Common Lionfish.
The video starts with fish feeding in the wild, then moves into the lab where blue dye is squirted in front of a fish to show water movements.
Current theory suggests that the movement of water 'overwhelms' the prey's lateral line.
The Common Lionfish, Pterois volitans, has been introduced into the Atlantic Ocean where it has become a serious environmental problem.
