Notes

The Spineblotch Scorpionfish looks similar to the Southern Red Scorpionfish, Scorpaena papillosa. They both have coronal spines and 10-11 soft rays in the dorsal fin, but Spineblotch Scorpionfish is a small fish (largest is about 10 cm TL) with a very short snout.

Thank you to Dr Hiroyuki Motomura for identifying the fish.
