On 20 July 2022, the Australian Museum held a special online presentation of the 2020 and 2021 AMRI Lifetime Achievement Awards. The 2020 AMRI Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr Val Attenbrow and the 2021 AMRI Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Professor William Sherwin.

Dr Val Attenbrow

The 2020 AMRI Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr Val Attenbrow in recognition of a significant, life-long contribution to Australian archaeology. Dr Attenbrow’s passion as a researcher, mentor and leader at the Australian Museum and with the wider community is of global significance in inspiring the next generation of researchers. Dr Attenbrow is a highly regarded leading archaeologist working with First Nations people to discover Australia's past.



Professor William Sherwin

The 2021 AMRI Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Professor William Sherwin in recognition of a truly remarkable career as a researcher on the biodiversity of Australia and surrounds. Professor Sherwin’s research continues to help scientific communities understand the molecular diversity of endangered, pest, and harvested wildlife.
