Luan Nguyen

I’m a PhD student advised by Dr. Jodi Rowley. My project investigates the diversity, distribution, and acoustics in a group of some of the smallest frogs in Vietnam.

Growing up from Central Vietnam where I was able to connect with nature, one of my first interests were frog calls, which I could hear at night even I could not see them.

I graduated with my Bachelors Degree from Hue University of Science and worked for the Asian Turtle Program in Vietnam from 2012. My research interests focus on the ecology, systematics, and conservation of amphibians and reptiles in Vietnam, with particular emphasis on endemic and threatened species of tortoises, freshwater turtles, and montane herpetofauna.

I am particularly interested in species distributions, population structure, habitat associations, and the impacts of anthropogenic threats on vulnerable taxa. I also enjoy chatting about frogs and herping!
