Flute-nosed Bat
Scientific name: Murina florium
Introduction
Flute-nosed Bats, wrap their wings around their body like fruit bats but hold the wings away from their chest so that they act like an umbrella. It is thought that this would help them to stay dry in their misty, wet habitat.
Habitat
Flute-nosed Bats roost only in the misty, mountainous rainforests of northeastern Queensland.

Feeding and diet
Flute-nosed Bats forage around the tops of flowering trees eating both insects and nectar from the flowers. Spiders also appear to be an important part of their diet.
Conservation status
Flute-nosed Bats are vulnerable to loss of feeding habitat by forestry operations, and clearing and land degradation from agriculture.
