Email Robert Clendon

Robert Clendon is currently employed at the Australian Museum as a Conservator focusing on the needs of the Cultural Collection and First Nations Collections. In this role he undertakes condition assessments and reporting of collection items, develops, and undertakes culturally appropriate preventive and remedial conservation treatments, and is advising on and upgrading collection storage units to improve accessibility and the long-term stability of these collections.

Robert has been a practicing conservation professional in the field of Cultural Conservation and Preservation since 1996 in New Zealand Aotearoa, Australia, and Antarctica.

In previous roles in public and non-profit heritage organisations Robert has undertaken a wide range of preventive and remedial conservation treatments of Pacifica and 1st Nations taonga (objects), natural environment collections, multi-component history items, decorative arts, sculpture, large and small technology collections, and the built environment. He also has extensive experience in the exhibition development process for in-house, national, and international loans and touring exhibitions.

Robert has developed in inhouse training for museum staff as well managing and mentoring interns, junior conservation staff and technicians.


Qualifications

Bachelor of Applied Science in the Conservation of Cultural Material from the University of Canberra.
