Myles Maniapoto (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Porou, Ngāi Tūhoe) is a dedicated Collections Officer with over seven years of experience working with cultural collections. As a Māori kaitiaki taonga, or caretaker of cultural treasures, Myles has a strong sense of responsibility to the care and management of collections and ensuring that Pacific voices and perspectives are embedded within museum practices.

In his role, Myles works across all aspects of Collections - from object handling, to documentation, storage, and curatorial support. His attention to detail and commitment to best practice collection care help preserve and protect taonga for future generations. Myles is also actively involved in supporting research access, exhibition development, and the storytelling of objects through Indigenous-led interpretation.

Myles is passionate about connecting communities with their cultural heritage and helping museums evolve into more inclusive, responsive spaces. He believes in the power of taonga (cultural treasures) to educate, inspire, and heal, and is dedicated to ensuring that the beauty and depth of Pacific cultures is celebrated and respected in the museum and beyond.
