Joycelyn started working in the Collection Enhancement Project in 2021 as a Barcoding Technical Officer. She later transitioned to a Digitising Technical Officer, capturing and enhancing data by registering and digitising the extensive natural science collections.

Joycelyn has since worked in Herpetology and Malacology and is currently engaged in the Ichthyology and Marine Invertebrates collections. She is responsible for registering any backlog and recently accessioned specimens alongside providing high-quality digital imaging of significant type specimens, which involves both photography and x-ray. This provides researchers with access to an important digital resource to study both the exterior and interior features of a specimen without having to handle and potentially damaging it.

Joycelyn’s previous collection management experiences from the Powerhouse Museum, Macquarie University History Museum and partaking in two collection relocation projects have contributed to her efforts in enhancing the digital and data accessibility of the Australian Museum’s natural science collections.
