Alex started at the Australian Museum in 2006 as a volunteer sorting entomological collections from the Pilbara region, while completing her Bachelor of Science at Macquarie University, Sydney. On graduating, she gained a temporary position in Marine Invertebrates team as a Technical Officer. Subsequently, she has also worked in various roles within the Marine Invertebrates, Entomology, Arachnology, Malacology and Frozen Tissue Collections. Alex has been with the Marine Invertebrates Collection full-time since 2011 and was appointed to ongoing staff in 2014, and temporarily as the Collection Manager in 2022.

Alex has always been fascinated by the diversity and wonder of animals in general, but particularly with all things spineless and invertebrate, and how each unique species has its own perfect design and capabilities.
