Archaeologists are the detectives of the past, piecing together fragments of evidence in an effort to determine the narrative of how things came to be.

Over an Egyptian-style breakfast, follow the journey of an object from antiquity to the modern age. Explore the challenges of determining provenance and provenience as our archaeologists share some of the tricks behind unearthing the truth.

Following breakfast, you'll have exclusive out-of-hours access to the Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs exhibition and our speakers will take you on a tour of their favourite artefacts within the exhibition. Dr Carlo Rindi Nuzzolo is an Egyptologist and archaeologist specialising in material culture, the study of burial customs, the interpretation of craftsmanship techniques, the investigation of regional styles and religious and socio-cultural interconnections. His primary interests include curatorship, cultural heritage preservation, provenance research and the study of the art market, and digital humanities.

Carlo completed his PhD at Monash University. In 2021, he was awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Global Fellowship and the CACHE (Centre for Ancient Cultural Heritage and Environment) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Macquarie University.

Dr. Stan Florek is a Collection Officer at the Australian Museum and has worked within the Cultural Collections team for over twenty years. Stan's work focuses on Collection care, enhancement and research. Stan's utilises a combination of digital and electronic tools as well as the integration of archival material. Stan has a PhD in archaeology from the University of Sydney.
