Redbanded Grubfish, Parapercis binivirgata (Waite, 1904)
Scientific name: Parapercis binivirgata
Identification
The species can be recognised by its long cylindrical body and double-barred colour pattern.
Habitat
It occurs at continental shelf depths in rubble and sandy habitats.

A Redbanded Grubfish caught at a depth of 387 m Fraser Seamount, Queensland. This unusually large (157 mm SL) and pale specimen was caught considerably deeper than usual and is the most northerly record for the species (pers. comm. Jeff Johnson).
