Raised in Aotearoa New Zealand and deeply grounded in the Māori culture and its unique knowledge systems, Meria has dedicated their life to exploring holistic approaches between Māori communities and the environment, particularly focusing on how these approaches can improve Māori health and well-being.

With an academic background in Anthropology and the Māori Language and Culture, Meria has utilised both disciplines to her advantage across different professional spaces. Meria has assisted in large and small-scale research projects at the University of Waikato (UoW), Waikato-Tainui Research College, Waikato Regional Council, and the University of Auckland (UoA).

Furthermore, Meria has worked in disability support at Health Care NZ as well as tertiary education focusing on maintaining student engagement of Maōri and Pacific business students undertaking Business, Communications, Banking, Finance and Technology subjects at UoW.

In 2024, Meria relocated to Sydney, Australia, and is now working as a Project Officer in Cultural Consultation. In this role, Meria collaborates with First Nations and Pasifika communities to uphold their well-being and cultural representation, integrating Indigenous knowledge systems into museum practices and revitalising ancestral stories for the communities connected to them.
