An image of erasure. Stark white light like heat, like phosphorescence forms a patch amidst a weathered, worn, scratched back obscured surrounds. Searing, a blinding flash of light that makes you flinch. Around this deep black and paler gray, murky and indistinguishable. Like an old photograph, scarred and the original layers scraped away. Or a new image with surface damaged or imperfectly processed. Vertical lines like paint dribbles or spindly tree trunks, the effect is of acid wash, leeching into the image. Unrecognisable yet tangible, visible presence, not an identifiable portrait of an individual facial body. Whiteout. Representation of absence verses presence.
