What I do now:
In my role as Operations Co-ordinator, I am responsible for programming over 500 sessions a year of workshops, shows and talks at the Science Festival and Science on the Road outreach events.
Highlights of the 2017 Science Festival included Dr Jordan Nguyen, Dr Karl and the Fire, Earth, Water & Air shows from Street Science. The reach of this event was over 13,000 in just two action packed weeks.
Best part of the job:
This role gives me the opportunity to work with extremely talented and enthusiastic research scientists and science communicators who do a fantastic job of engaging our audience which is made up of local and regional communities. I am so fortunate to work with these people who have a passion for their fields of study that is infectious, and I always get a kick out of seeing students become inspired to get involved with science.
In the future:
I would love the opportunity to expand our programs to increase our outreach and interact with as many budding young scientists as possible around Australia, and the world!
I have three daughters, including a three year old and a set of eleven months old twins.
