Deep dive into the stunning images in the 2021 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year, a South Australian Museum exhibition and then settle into our studio with award-winning nature photographer Angela Roberston-Buchanan.
Your mastery of your digital camera’s potential will be taken up a notch with advanced shooting techniques and tricks applicable to studio and field photography. Guided by Angela, you will photograph a variety of set-ups featuring live animals (birds, lizards, frogs, possums and perhaps a snake and crocodile), as well as taxidermy and fossil specimens from the Museum’s world-renowned collections.

Facilitator: Angela Robertson-Buchanan
Angela Robertson-Buchanan is an award-winning nature photographer, published children’s author and passionate wildlife advocate. She is best known for her up-close macro portraits and progression series, featuring birds that have rescue stories or are an ambassador for their species.
Angela combines her interest in wildlife preservation and photography. She works on projects and exhibitions where she can convey a conservation message and supports wildlife organisations by donating prints or a percentage of her sales.
Angela is passionate about teaching the ethics of wildlife photography and shares her knowledge of using available light over flash and in-studio continuous lighting.
Angela has been a finalist in the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year four times.
The 2021 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year is produced by the South Australian Museum in partnership with Australian Geographic.

The Australian Museum is COVID Safe
The current NSW Public Health Orders require that anyone visiting or working at the AM must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or medical exemption (aged 16+) and wear a fitted facemask (aged 12+) to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The AM’s existing COVID Safe measures including QR code check in, social distancing, increased cleaning and hygiene practices remain in effect.
