Kirli Saunders, a proud Gunai woman and award-winning writer of poetry, plays and picture books, invites primary school kids of all ages to join her for a creative writing workshop all about our Earth and why we care for Country.

Students will discover ways to express their ideas through poetry and poetic art. Kirli will also read from her celebrated verse novel, Bindi.

Afterwards you can explore more of Kirli’s work in the Power through Poetry activity booklet and delve into the Australian Museum’s powerful, First Nations-led and -informed Unsettled exhibition.

An experienced speaker and facilitator advocating for the environment, gender and racial equality and LGBTIQA+ rights, Kirli was the NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year (2020).
