Step behind the scenes in the Australian Museum Research Library with this exclusive tour of the magnificent William Swainson collection. Originating in the early to mid-nineteenth century, Swainson's work is a treasure trove of Australian natural history research and contributed heavily to the public's understanding of our nation's environment. Limited to 20 participants only, this one-hour tour is hosted by Deborah Cassell, one of the dedicated Museum volunteers who has spent months researching this extraordinary collection and delves into the fascinating story of Swainson’s life, his contributions to science and a captivating story involving the Scott sisters.

She has brought her other interests in natural sciences, visual arts and history to bear in her work with the Library’s rare book collection.
